about
What inspired the song?
I wrote the instrumental of this song when I was a little ticked off about another project I was in and I really wanted to just come up with a song that was all about paying off a big crunchy, guitar driven chorus. I wasn’t working and was living off savings from my old big kid job so I would just write songs impromptu into a camera and sync it to a google drive folder to take to practice and this song ultimately came from one of the takes that stuck to the wall, I guess.
Our drummer Jake wrote the lyrics with some collaboration on the chorus from Jennelle. The lyrics are on brand for us. A lot of us were going through a lot of restructuring socially, getting older, having lives diverge and conflict due to different ideas, levels of responsibility and just all those variables in your later 20’s and early 30’s where it’s not just about you anymore.
Who produced it? What was the recording experience like?
We recorded everything for this one at Jake’s studio. Just gripped it and ripped it! It came out super raw and Jake mixed it and ultimately our friend Ryan Jolley (of Drone Pop and Romeo Yankee) remixed and mastered it and did some cool production stuff with our stems. I had a lot of fun with this one because of how DIY the initial steps in its production were and we are very much a cottage band and we come from an environment of almost exclusively home-recording our projects.
What do you want people to take away from the song?
Don’t be a butthead and make funny punk rock songs with your friends!
Was there a particular mood you were trying to capture? A story you were trying to tell?
Frustration to the point of it being funny once everything is said and done.
Anything else noteworthy?
I really want people to think the chorus vocals sound like Korn. I legitimately tried to sound like Jonathan Davis because he sounds really cool and I can say that because I have notably bad taste.
lyrics
Posit this into the stupid
Well I guess it isn't hard to
Sell your shit or borrow it
From now or a friend
a pot to piss in
and a window to throw it out of
my face stuck some kind of way
why won't you look at me
quieter than air sucked out
of a room that you have never
been ok. Okay. You can go
now that you are found.
a pot to piss in
and a window to throw it out of
my face stuck some kind of way
why won't you look at me
Posit this into the stupid
Well I guess it isn't hard to
Sell your shit or borrow it
From now or a friend
